Sigrid Naturals is a socially minded business—equally
Sigrid works hands-on with community groups mostly involving young women and girls, teaching the art of wildcrafted and handmade skincare products, with a dash of entrepreneurship. Sigrid is currently working with the Canadian Women’s Foundation and the local girls’ empowerment after school group, Girls Rising, from the Killaloe Community Resource center to create a social enterprise product called Forest Girl Healing Salve. Sigrid also continues to work with Entre Amigos Youth Entrepreneurs program in San Pancho Mexico where in 2015 she helped the non-profits organization youth group start their own skin care business called Essencia Naturales to help fund their education.
I’m neither an engineer nor a chemist. I am a person of the senses—aromas, textures, colours, and feelings are how I operate. The lessons which have shaped me have not come from institutions or teachers, but from strangers in unlikely places, old friends with wild knowledge and Mother Nature.
Organizations Sigrid has worked with:
- Boundless Adventures, Toronto and Palmer Rapids
- Sistering, Toronto
- Children’s Aid, Bancroft
- Institute of Holistic Nutrition, Toronto
